Re-enact The American Civil War

The Southern Skirmish Association or SoSkAn as it is most commonly known was first inaugurated in June 1968 by a group of knowledgeable American Civil War enthusiasts and we are extremely proud of our continuous history as the oldest established American Civil War Battle Re-enactment and Living History Society in the United Kingdom.

Over the last 40 years the Association has continued to progress, always striving to portray accurately the men and women who died for their beliefs through those difficult American Civil War years of 1861 - 1865. Despite our professional attitude to our portrayals we are very much a family orientated organisation of people from all walks of life, all sharing a common interest in the events that created the war between the states 140 years ago.

As a military based society we expect our members to participate in ALL things military. This is not just the battle or skirmish scenarios. They are properly trained to handle the weapons & equipment of the period using the correct drill and instruction manuals; take part in military camp life and act out scenarios when the general public views the camp.
